Started by Arran shop owners, on a village green.
During the annual Christmas Santa Sparkle event on Lamlash green, a handful of local business owners got together and decided to hold a post-Christmas clearance sale in Brodick Hall.
It worked. So they did it again the next year, and the year after that — and named it Shop Arran. It's now a firmly established annual weekend held before Christmas, drawing visitors from across the island and the mainland. Today, dozens of bricks-and-mortar shops take part, offering discounts, promotions and a good dose of festive cheer.
